Dear Mr Greg Hunt:
Longboat Bay is an amazing place, filled with all sorts of interesting and beautiful creatures. Do we really want this place to fade away into nothing? I am Dora Jackson and I am writing to you to ask that you make Longboat Bay a marine reserve so we can protect this wonderful place and preserve it for many years to come.
Firstly, Longboat Bay has a huge western blue groper living in it, who we have named Blueback. If we do not protect this place then this beautiful creature will die because of all those fishermen who don't respect the environment.
Secondly, there are many different types of fish in Longboat Bay, such as blue morwong, trevally, sweep, boarfish, harlequins, breaksea cod, groper, jewfish and samsons to name a few. Making Longboat Bay a marine reserve will protect all of these wonderful fish and the ones I haven't mentioned, common and rare.
Thirdly, if Longboat Bay is not protected then all sorts of things can put it at risk, as has already been proven in the last few years. There are three main things that have happened: a reef stripper named Costello came through Longboat Bay and took so much that he had several crates of shellfish and covered the deck of his boat with dead fish, an oil tanker sunk off the coast of Longboat Bay and the oil almost reached the coast and developers came and tried to turn Longboat Bay into a resort.
So, in conclusion, I hope that you strongly consider my proposal that Longboat Bay become a marine reserve and thank you for reading.
Yours Sincerely,
Dora Jackson
